this weekend will be filled with magic. i am actually going to be consulting a magician who will be coming to my house. we will have a consulting conference from 9am-6pm friday and saturday. we will get down to the nitty gritty of live stage performance and how to effectively communicate a message. this should be fun.
this is a thing that i have been doing for magicians and artists and other performers for a few years but i am now taking this a little more seriously. i am hoping to take my experience and pour it into other people as much as possible. i am going to share the secrets of real world experience that will help people be better at what they do.
this weekend will be very personal. i will only be working with 2 people. it will be very private. this gives me a chance to get very personal with people and tear away all of the layers in another persons show. this will allow us together to construct a new perspective and ultimately a better show.we will work on things like scripting, music, promotion, stage illusions, etc. i hope we can squeeze it all in.
this weekend will be intense. we will be working non stop and in depth. i cant wait.
by the way, who wants to be next?

I am here in las Vegas for two weeks. The first part of my little getaway is filled with a convention called “magic live”. I am having a great time here as I learn and chat with the best of the best magicians in the world. There are 1000 magicians here at the south point hotel in las Vegas. We are watching each other perform as well as sharing technique and insights to make what we do better. So many people are here that I respect. The guys who write the books I read are standing in front of me talking face to face. Also many magicians that are famous around the world for performing on tv or live shows are here learning and chatting. I have seen everybody who is anybody in the world of magic. Mac king, Nathan Burton, teller, max maven, and David Blaine to name a few. It really is a great experience. I am surrounded by the art that I have spent the past decade learning and performing. I’m having a blast.

I have had some trouble finding Internet the past few days. I apologize for not staying up to date. Here is what’s been happening.
We went to Brookhaven Mississippi Thursday night
To begin our fall touring. We did our new show for a huge group. I think we had about 1800 people attend our show. They were in serious need of more seats but we packed out the arena and they all got to watch the new stuff. I was very pleased with how many people came out. I was also pleased with how the new material went over. The only problem I had was TNT I ripped my pants as I was escaping from the box. Auny was sad because it was her favorite pants that I wear. Oh well at least it was my pants and not my skin. Yikes
The next day we headed down south to gulf port Mississippi We also had a packed house there as well. The show was really smooth. It usually takes about 50-70 performances for me to get really comfortable with a new piece. The new stuff just hit the stage but it is already starting to take shape. I can’t wait to get comfortable because this is gonna be fun stuff to perform.
The next day we went to great falls Montana. We were doing a festival with Casting Crowns. The festival was aclled down pour. Just a fitting name I guess. It did rain. The rain didn’t bother me too bad but it was the first time to do magic in the rain. It didn’t rain too much while I was on stage. The problem for me was the cold. Yep, it was down into the forties at night. I think Jacob got frost bite. Haha. We were not ready for that cold in august.
The next day I got on a plane to las Vegas I am going to be here for 2 weeks. I will let ya know how it’s going tomorrow. I have to run and get started on the convention.

discovery channel has launched a new network called investigation discovery. we will be on tv this friday on this new network. check your local listings but expect to see our show series air back to back on good friday. “the miracles of jesus” is the name of the show. once again if you havent seen it this is what it is about. i did an investigation on the life of jesus to determine whether jesus did miracles or just magic tricks.
this is the most expensive religious documentary ever made. this is not some backwoods tv series. watch me recreate miracles. listen to experts as they explain what really happened in the first century. watch and see what we found out. come discover the truth about the life of jesus

i have some time off right now. i am taking advantage of this time to create new routines and practice. usually the creating part comes very naturally but practice takes much more effort. i have some really cool ideas that i have been excited about for next years show. now that i have a few weeks off my priority is too practice until i cant get it wrong.
ya know, if a musician gets one note wrong most people do not notice. those that do notice extend a reasonable amount of grace to the performer. if a magician gets it wrong even for a second, the effect is ruined and the audience has no respect or interest. if a painter misses a stroke of the brush then the artist can either brush over it and cover the mistake or even start over. the magician is live and vunerable on an open stage, and if it goes wrong he is in trouble. there is no do overs.
this motivates me to practice and perfect my art. i want to bring mystery, and wonder, and astonishment to my audience. therefore you will find me working hard on my days off of the road. i will be getting ready to bring you a show that you will never forget.
and thats a promise
